HOW TO PLAY
Controls
WASD / Arrows to move  ·  Space to BLOCK (0.5s shield, 2s cooldown)  ·  E to ENGULF (phagocytosis grapple, 6s cooldown). Auto-attack happens whenever your membrane overlaps an enemy.
Phagocytosis (E)
Real amoebas kill prey by wrapping around them. Press E within close range to start engulfing the nearest enemy. Hold the wrap for ~1.2 seconds and you deliver a massive 60% max-HP hit. The target can escape if they sprint outside your reach.
SPECIES (RANDOM EACH SPAWN)
Amoeba proteus Generalist
Balanced freshwater giant. No specialty — well-rounded for any matchup.
Entamoeba histolytica Toxin DoT
Pathogen. Each hit injects cytolytic toxin — target bleeds 3 HP/s for 5 s, stacks up to 3×.
Naegleria fowleri Burst Speed
"Brain-eater". Fragile but blisteringly fast. Each hit triggers a brief speed burst — hit-and-run specialist.
Chaos carolinense AoE Crush
Multinucleate giant. Tanky and slow. Each hit also damages nearby enemies for 40% splash.
Acanthamoeba castellanii Spike Reflect
Spiny acanthopodia. Reflects 30% of incoming damage to the attacker — punishes aggressors.
GENETICS — ALL SIX CONCEPTS
Toxin (TOX) Mendelian
Models the EhCP cysteine protease gene. T (active) is completely dominant over t (inactive). TT = 1.6× damage, Tt = 1.2× (dominant phenotype), tt = 0.7×.
Cytoplasm (CYT) Incomplete Dominance
F = fluid sol cytoplasm, G = stiff gel. The heterozygote FG has truly blended viscosity — neither allele wins. Controls pseudopod extension rate → attack speed.
DPS Polygenic
Damage-per-second is not one gene. It emerges from two loci: TOX sets damage per hit, CYT sets hit frequency. Neither alone determines DPS.
Actin Isoform (ACT) Multiallelic
A single locus with four alleles — actin variants with different movement speeds: V > F > S > C. The most dominant allele present is expressed.
Cytoplasm Color (LEC) Codominance
Pigment granules in the cytoplasm. R = red granules, B = blue granules. In RB heterozygotes, both pigment populations are produced simultaneously — the cell displays both colors as a visible split.
Pellicle Density (OSM) Sex-Linked
The pellicle is the protein-rich surface coat that determines membrane toughness (max HP). Its gene sits on the X chromosome. Type I (XX) carries two copies — can be a heterozygous carrier (XDXd). Type II (XY) is a sex linked trait — one copy, no carrier state, full expression of whatever allele is present.
